Help build meaningful lives
MRI, we help our clients overcome obstacles everyday. Now it's your turn. We want you to help us overcome obstacles! How can you help? Well, I'm glad you asked!
COLLECT: Start your own fundraising page and collect pledges from friends, family and coworkers. All proceeds directly benefit MRI.
COMPETE: Raise at least $25 to compete in our obstacles course in Central Park on Friday, April 27th.
EARN: Raise $50 or more and earn a free Overcome Obstacles with MRI T shirt. Raise $100 or more and we'll take 5 seconds off your final time, giving you a leg up in the competition.
LEARN: During our course, you'll have to overcome some of the obstacles our individuals face daily. Afterward, stick around to hear first hand experiences from those we serve.
ENJOY: Hang out for a bit! We'll have Krispy Kreme doughnuts ($7/dozen) starting at 6:00 am and boxed lunches ($7 each) beginning at 11. Spend some time exploring our interactive information fair, listening to music or watching MRI's drama club rehearse their upcoming show or watch others compete against the clock and each other for the fastest obstacle course time.
So you're probably asking how all of this works. Good question! It's easy. Simply sign up for your own fundraiser at the top of this page. Once complete, share, share, share! Ask everyone you know to support the cause - we promise it's a good one. Some helpful tips:
- Share your personal fundraising page on Facebook
Send an email to family and friends with a link to your personal fundraiser
- Hand out a personalized flyer or business card (we'll design and print for you)
Get creative! We'd love to hear your unique ideas on how to share your fundraiser
Once you're all signed up, you will receive an email from someone on the MRI team with more instructions on how to participate in the obstacles course. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Melanie at 217-875-8850 or MSnively@maconresources.org.
Our $30,000 goal is based around estimated costs for renovations to MRI's main building (built and last updated in 1992). MRI plans to purchase a new gym floor to encourage physical activity & a healthy lifestyle for our clients as well as updating our classrooms to be more inclusive and expressive of who we are.
Thank you for supporting MRI and the 800+ children and adults with disabilities we serve in our community. By creating your own fundraiser and collecting pledges, you are directly impacting the lives of our individuals and you'll help your friends feel good about doing good.
Before you start, take a minute to get to know some of the individuals you are helping:
Tony, a MRI Day Training participant, taught himself how to play the piano by ear (he's blind!) when he was just a kid. He now have a part time job entertaining the lunch crowd at the MRI Grill.
Carl, another Day Training participant, has a goal of getting a job in the community. He volunteered to help Spread the Word to End the Word and ended up recording a radio commercial (thanks Cromwell!). After the recording, he picked up a job application and now has a concrete goal that MRI can help him work toward.
Before coming to MRI Independence Pointe, Elden was completely non verbal. After speech & language therapy, his mom explain, "you would never guess he was ever non-verbal."
Do you know someone who has been positively impacted by MRI's services? PLEDGE FOR THEM!
And last but not least, a huge thank you to our sponsors:
